What an afternoon. A big thank you to the whole team today for another great team performance at the end of the day. The team were called upon when a member of the public was on the prom and having a seizure, his bm was also very low. Well done to quick thinking Ellie Dickerson Weedy who jumped onto the prom and started to check his ABC and to get a history from a couple who were passing by. The remainder of the team Linda Taylor and Emily Stephenson who backed Ellie up, Ryan Hennessey, Joanne Drysdale arrived with the medical kit with a potential new member Kirk. Zelah weedy and Maureen Harrison continued to man the beach and ensure the remainder of the team continued to clear down and put the kit from sea training away. This was followed by a second incident with a drunken gentleman who had fallen off his bike but who had been in and out of the sea and be warned by the team about his safety. A big well done to all of blyth lifeguards – they are a great team who in the hour of need work Amazingly well to help save others

A busy Northumberland live, what was a quiet day until 1800 it went manic. We had hundreds of under age drinkers who were messing around in the water, on the pipe and we had 1 rescue with an adult who had entered the water after consuming alcohol and was assisted back to shore thanks to the team Ellie Dickerson Weedy, Sam Carpenter, Joe Walker Hardwick and Luke Oakey. Several people entering the water and wading out to the end of the groynes as the tide is on its way in, a kite surfer who was struggling due to lack of wind. To the team who assisted with crowd control on the prom following a medical emergency on the beach. To a lady who fell out of her wheelchair and was assisted up by Sam Carpenter, Jamie Coe, Ryan Hennessey, Joanne Drysdale and then brought into to lifeguard station until transport home could be arranged and checked over by our very own paramedic team. A big thank you to the lifeguards, graduate lifeguards, patrollers and parents for their hard work and dedication even well after the end of the normal patrol duties.
